SKU193534537 Published by Underwriters Laboratories of Canada ULC Publication Date2016 Pages CountPages120

The CAN ULC-S525-2016-REV1 2017 standard is a set of requirements for audible signaling devices that are used in fire alarm and signaling systems, including their accessories. These devices include electrically operated bells, sirens, horns, and similar equipment that are rated at 300 volts or less. The standard applies to both indoor and outdoor installations.

In the revised edition of the standard, several changes have been incorporated. One of the changes is the inclusion of item "c" in Clause 5.2.8.1, which was accidentally omitted in the previous edition. This change aligns the standard with other related standards such as CAN/ULC S-526 and CAN/ULCS541.

Another change is the revision of Clause 7.10, which addresses the abnormal operation and burnout test. This revision resolves any differences between the requirements in Canada and the United States and also includes any missing requirements that might have been unintentionally omitted initially.

The standard also includes revisions to clarify the temperature conditioning requirements for indoor and outdoor use appliances in the Mechanical Strength Tests for Enclosures (clauses 7.21.2.1 and 7.21.4). These revisions aim to provide clear guidelines on how to test the devices under various temperature conditions.

Additionally, the standard incorporates changes and corrections to existing requirements, as well as updates to reference documents.
