Transport of Dangerous Goods on Land
Also Known As:
The NZS 5433:2020 standard serves the purpose of outlining the requirements for the safe transportation of dangerous goods by road and rail vehicles in New Zealand. It aims to ensure compliance with the Dangerous Goods Rule and offers guidance on best practices for the transportation of such goods.
The latest version of the standard includes updated technical content to align with current good practices and specifications. To enhance future relevance, the standard has eliminated duplicated international specifications, instead referencing them to keep up with evolving international standards.
Furthermore, this standard incorporates specific information relevant to New Zealand and incorporates references to the Land Transport Act - Dangerous Goods Transport Rule, which is regulated by NZTA.
It is important to note that the revised NZS 5433.2:2012 Dangerous Goods list will be part of a handbook, SNZ HB 5433:2021 UN dangerous goods list, rather than being included as a separate standard. The handbook is scheduled for release early in 2021.
