Standard EN SampleMethod of Fire Tests for Air Filter Units
Also Known As:
The CAN ULC-S111-13 (R2018) standard has been approved by the Standard Council of Canada as a National Standard. The most notable change in this edition is the replacement of surgical gauze with cheesecloth in the testing process.
The standard outlines the test requirements for air filter units, encompassing both washable and throw-away types. These units are designed to remove dust and other airborne particles from mechanically circulated air in equipment and systems.
The standard categorizes air filter units into two classes. Class 1 units, when clean, do not burn with a flame or produce sparks, and they emit only negligible amounts of smoke during testing. On the other hand, Class 2 units, when clean, burn moderately or emit moderate amounts of smoke during testing. Further details on the classification of air filter units can be found within the standard itself.
