Standard EN SampleVault Ventilators and Vault-Ventilating Ports
Also Known As:
The ULC-S322-1992 (R2016) standard defines the requirements for emergency vault ventilators and vault ventilating ports. The standard has been reaffirmed in February 2016 without any technical changes.
Emergency vault ventilators are designed to provide fresh air to individuals who may be accidentally locked inside a vault or during a robbery. On the other hand, vault ventilating ports are meant to be connected to an external ventilating system, which circulates air in the vault when it is open.
The main goal of the standard is to establish burglary-resistant ratings. When these ventilators and ports are installed in a vault according to the manufacturer's instructions, they do not impact the burglary resistant rating of the vault.
However, it is important to note that the standard does not cover protection against entry by attacks using a burning bar (thermal lance) or explosives.
