The CAN ULC-S563-2006 (R2016) standard is a second edition standard that was reaffirmed in April 2016 without any technical changes.

This standard specifically focuses on Category 3 Film-Forming Fluoroprotein (FFFP) Foam Liquid Concentrates, which are primarily intended for use in aircraft rescue fire fighting and various Category 1 applications. The foam liquid concentrates, which can be diluted with fresh or sea water at 3% or 6% concentration, are primarily meant to be used in aircraft rescue and firefighting vehicles (ARFF), but can also be suitable for mobile, portable, and fixed airfoam installations.

It is important to note that this standard does not supersede any requirements set by legislation or regulation enforced by the relevant authorities.

It is also mentioned that the requirements for Category 3 Aqueous Film-Forming Foam (AFFF) Liquid Concentrates are not covered in this standard and are contained in a separate standard, CAN/ULC-S560.
