Standard EN SampleStandard for Lining Systems for Existing Masonry or Factory-Built Chimneys and Vents
Also Known As:
The CAN ULC-S635-2016 standard specifies the requirements for lining systems utilized in existing masonry chimneys, whether or not they already have a fire-clay tile liner, as well as existing factory-built chimneys and vents. Lining systems are categorized into three classes based on their intended use.
Class 1 lining systems are designed for the venting of gas-fired appliances, with the flue-gas temperature ranging from 135 °C to a maximum of 245 °C. Class 2 lining systems are suitable for the venting of oil and gas-fired appliances, where the flue-gas temperature does not normally exceed 300 °C. Finally, Class 3 lining systems are used for the venting of oil, gas, and solid-fuel fired appliances, with the flue-gas temperature not normally exceeding 650 °C.
This standard ensures that the lining systems meet specific criteria and performance requirements to ensure their safe and efficient operation. It covers aspects such as material specifications, installation methods, clearance requirements, and maintenance procedures. Compliance with this standard helps to ensure the proper functioning and longevity of chimneys and vents in existing structures.
