Standard EN SampleStandard for Air Barrier Assemblies - Specification
Also Known As:
Standard CAN ULC-S742-2011 (R2016), also known as the Standard for Air Barrier Assemblies - Specification, is a national standard in Canada. The standard was initially published in 2011 and reaffirmed in 2016 with no technical changes.
The purpose of this standard is to provide criteria for specifying air barrier assemblies in design specification documents or manufacturer's product literature. It applies to both low-rise and high-rise buildings.
The standard defines test methods for measuring the air leakage rate of a representative test specimen of an air barrier assembly before and after exposure to wind pressure loading cycles. Based on these measurements, an air leakage rate at a reference pressure difference is determined.
The standard establishes minimum performance requirements for the air leakage rate of air barrier assemblies, taking into account different levels of air leakage rate and wind pressure loading.
It is important to note that this standard does not cover the requirements for determining the air leakage rate of air barrier components and accessories, nor does it address the structural design for the transfer of loads from the air barrier assemblies to the building structure.
