The CAN ULC-S2577-13 (R2018) standard is a joint standard prepared by Underwriters Laboratories Inc., ULC Standards, and the Technical Committee on Solid State Lighting (TCSSL). It is the first edition of both CAN/ULC-S2577 and ANSI/UL 2577.
The standard specifies the requirements for suspended ceiling power grid systems and equipment, which are used to support luminaires and other electrical devices in ceiling installations. The standard uses metric SI units of measurement, with approximate values provided in parentheses for other units.
In Canada, where this standard applies, safety warnings must be provided in both English and French, as these are the two official languages of the country. Some Canadian authorities may also require additional markings and installation instructions to be provided in both languages.
Annexes A and B, which are identified as normative, are mandatory parts of the standard and provide additional information and requirements related to suspended ceiling power grid systems and equipment.
