Standard EN SampleStandard for Aboveground Protected Tank Assemblies for Flammable and Combustible Liquids
Also Known As:
The CAN ULC-S655-15-REV1 2019 standard sets out the minimum requirements for aboveground protected tank assemblies used for storing flammable and combustible liquids. These tank assemblies are fabricated in a shop and consist of primary tanks with secondary containment and protective encasement.
The materials of construction must be compatible with the stored liquids, and the tanks must be tested to demonstrate a 2-hour fire rating, as well as limited resistance to impact and ballistic attack. This standard specifically focuses on the construction and performance of stationary tanks.
It is important to note that the installation, operation, and maintenance of these protected tank assemblies may be subject to additional requirements from the authority having jurisdiction. These additional requirements could include compliance with the National Fire Code of Canada Part 4, CSA B139 Installation code for oil-burning equipment, and CCME PN 1326 Environmental Code of Practice for Aboveground and Underground Storage Tank Systems Containing Petroleum and Allied Petroleum Products.
