Standard EN SampleStandard for Refurbishing of Storage Tanks for Flammable and Combustible Liquids
Also Known As:
The CAN ULC-S676-15 standard is focused on the refurbishing of storage tanks for flammable and combustible liquids. It covers the repairs and limited modifications of tanks using materials that are equivalent to those used in the original manufacture. The standard specifies minimum requirements for the inspection, evaluation, and refurbishing of steel underground and aboveground storage tanks, as well as fiber reinforced plastic underground storage tanks.
The standard is divided into different parts that address refurbishing in a facility, refurbishing at the tank's installed location, and inspection criteria for the frequent relocation of aboveground tanks. It also provides examples of flowcharts applicable to refurbishing in Annex A.
It is important to note that the standard does not cover the transportation of tanks to a refurbishing facility. Authorities Having Jurisdiction may have specific requirements for the cleaning and preparation of tanks prior to transport.
This standard is intended for use by organizations and individuals who are knowledgeable and experienced in underground and aboveground tank fabrication, repair, modification, and inspection. It applies to all repair activities of storage tanks designed to contain flammable and combustible liquids under atmospheric pressure. The installation and use of refurbished tanks may be subject to additional requirements specified by the Authority Having Jurisdiction.
