The ULC-S324-1993 (R2016) standard describes the requirements for safes that are resistant to burglary. The standard covers safes that are classified into two types and ten classes.
The standard allows manufacturers to include a suffix 'D' in one of the types to indicate a safe with a deposit mechanism that has undergone a full test for the class. Similarly, an 'E' suffix can be used in one of the types to indicate a safe that has been tested for explosive resistance.
It is important to note that the standard has been reaffirmed in February 2016 without any technical changes made. This indicates that the requirements stated in this edition remain valid and continue to be relevant for the purpose of certifying burglary-resistant safes.
