Standard EN SampleStandard for Fire Tested Aboveground Tank Assemblies for Flammable and Combustible Liquids
Also Known As:
The CAN ULC-S677-14-REV1 2019 standard sets out the minimum requirements for aboveground tank assemblies used to store flammable and combustible liquids with a specific gravity not exceeding 1.0. These tank assemblies are intended to withstand exposure to a 1-hour hydrocarbon pool fire.
The standard covers tank assemblies that are manufactured in a shop and are intended for stationary installation. They must comply with the National Fire Code of Canada (Part 4), the CSA B139 Installation Code for Oil Burning Equipment, the PN1326 Environmental Code of Practice for Aboveground and Underground Storage Tank Systems Containing Petroleum and Allied Petroleum Products, and any additional requirements specified by the Authority Having Jurisdiction.
Tank assemblies must be fabricated, inspected, and tested for leakage before they are shipped from the factory as fully assembled units. However, the standard does not address methods for anchoring the tank assemblies to prevent uplift from flooding or movement due to wind or seismic forces. It also does not provide guidelines for the construction or attachment means of ladders, stairs, runways, guardrails, platforms, or equipment supports.
