The CAN ULC-S646-2010 (R2016) standard provides requirements for exhaust hoods used in commercial and institutional kitchens. These hoods are designed to be placed over restaurant-type cooking equipment such as ranges, broilers, deep fat fryers, and grills during normal cooking operations. The standard specifies that the exhaust hoods should be installed in accordance with ULC-S650, which is the standard for the installation and performance of ventilation and fire suppression systems for commercial and institutional cooking equipment. The hoods are suitable for use with electric, gaseous-fuel, or solid-fuel burning appliances rated not over 600 V and installed under the requirements of CAN/CSA-C22.1, which is the Canadian Electrical Code, Part I.
