It also covers the transmission of these signals directly to a signal receiving center or through intermediaries such as a clearing house, satellite center, hosted signal receiving center, or bridging center.

However, it is important to note that this standard does not include requirements for hold-up alarm systems or panic devices. Furthermore, the standard clarifies that the installation, service, and testing of intrusion protective equipment at protected premises are governed by CAN/ULC S302, which is the standard for the installation, inspection, and testing of intrusion alarm systems.

The standard also addresses the compliance of existing intrusion alarm installations. If these installations were previously in compliance with the CAN/ULC S301-09 and CAN/ULC S302-M91 standards, and if the existing control unit is not replaced, they are deemed to be compliant with the CAN ULC-S301-2018 standard.
