ULC-S328-1998 (R2016) standard defines the requirements for mechanical key locks in five different categories. This standard was reaffirmed in February 2016, and no technical changes have been made since its first edition.
The standard allows manufacturers to denote certain characteristics of the key locks using suffixes. For example, the suffix 'C' can be used to indicate that the key lock has been tested using carbide or carbide tip drill bits. Additionally, the suffix 'V' can be used to denote a key lock that has been tested using electrically operated vibrating needles, which can be obtained from locksmith supply sources.
