Pool Water Quality
Also Known As:
NZS 5826:2010 is a standard that provides guidelines and criteria for the operation and maintenance of pools in New Zealand. The primary objective of this standard is to ensure the safety and health of the public by minimizing the risks associated with inadequate pool water quality. However, it does not address the maintenance of heating, mechanical, or electrical equipment used in pools, as those aspects are covered by a separate standard, NZS 4441.
This standard applies to all types of treated freshwater and seawater swimming pools, spa pools, and geothermal public and private pools during their use. It emphasizes the importance of implementing effective water treatment methods to maintain the desired water quality parameters and avoid potential health risks. The standard sets out guidelines for the monitoring and control of key factors such as disinfection, pH levels, temperature, and clarity of the pool water.
