Standard EN SampleElectricity and Gas Industries - Safety Management Systems for Public Safety
Also Known As:
The NZS 7901:2014 standard provides guidance to owners and operators of electricity and gas assets on implementing safety management systems to ensure public safety. The standard specifies that these safety management systems should protect the public and their property from safety-related risks associated with the presence or operation of these assets.
The standard applies to electricity transmission, distribution, and generation assets with a total capacity of 10 MVA or more. It also includes gas distribution assets that operate at a pressure equal to or less than 2000 kPa and supply more than 10 terajoules of gas in any year or have a flow design capacity of 10 gigajoules per hour.
It is important to note that the standard applies to each energy asset owner or operator, regardless of whether their assets are in one or multiple systems. This ensures that all entities responsible for electricity or gas assets comply with the safety management system requirements outlined in the standard to protect the public's safety effectively.
