Standard EN SampleStandard on Marine Fire-Fighting Vessels
Also Known As:
NFPA 1925: Standard on Marine Fire-Fighting Vessels is a comprehensive standard that provides guidelines for the construction, conversion, testing, and maintenance of marine fire-fighting vessels. The standard is designed to ensure the effective operation of fire-fighting vessels through compliance with its requirements.
The standard defines five classes of fire-fighting vessels and covers various aspects including design considerations, classifications, fire-fighting system capabilities, foam systems, owner responsibilities, fire protection equipment, fire-fighting and emergency equipment, subdivision and stability criteria, main propulsion and auxiliary systems, auxiliary machinery and systems, electrical systems, outfitting, communications and equipment, navigation systems and equipment, protective coatings and corrosion protection, tests and trials, and vessel maintenance.
In the 2018 edition of NFPA 1925, there is a change where specific basic medical and first-aid supplies listed in Paragraph 10.6 have been removed. Instead, the authority having jurisdiction (AHJ) will determine the required medical supplies based on the vessel's intended use and mission. It is important to note that NFPA 1925 is not a detailed manufacturing purchase specification, but rather a reference for the minimum requirements that should be included within a purchase specification.
