Standard EN SampleStandard for Dipping, Coating, and Printing Processes Using Flammable or Combustible Liquids
Also Known As:
The NFPA 34-2021 standard aims to ensure improved fire safety and compliance in industrial buildings. It specifically addresses processes such as dipping, roll coating, flow coating, and printing that involve the use of flammable or combustible liquids.
The standard provides requirements for various aspects, including the proper location, design, and construction of dipping and coating equipment, the installation of electrical equipment and control of ignition sources, the handling of flammable liquids, operations and maintenance, and ventilation.
The 2021 edition of NFPA 34 has undergone some updates. The term "Class I" has been removed from references to "Class I, Zone 0," "Class I, Zone 1," and "Class I, Zone 2," aligning with the latest requirements in NFPA 70, the National Electrical Code. The term "ignitible" has been added to references of "flammable or combustible liquids" to match changes in NFPA 30, the Flammable and Combustible Liquids Code.
Chapter 8, which deals with storage, handling, and distribution of flammable and combustible liquids, has been revised to include flash point and ignitible liquid requirements from NFPA 30. These new terms have been added to the defined terms in Chapter 3 for clarity. Additionally, Chapter 4 has been expanded to provide users with more options to meet the requirements for limited-combustible materials.
