Standard EN SampleStandard Methods of Tests of Fire Endurance of Building Construction and Materials
Also Known As:
The NFPA 251-2006 standard provides guidelines for determining the fire-resistive abilities of building members and assemblies. This includes conducting tests on bearing and nonbearing walls and partitions, columns, floor and roof assemblies, loaded restrained beams, and the performance of protective membranes in wall, partition, floor, or roof assemblies.
Some modifications have been made to improve the application and performance of the standard. These changes include the inclusion of definitions for fire resistance and fire resistance rating, as well as revisions to the hose stream test requirements. This ensures that construction methods and materials are thoroughly tested to meet the necessary fire safety standards and protections. The standard also complies with NFPA®'s Manual of Style.
