Cleanrooms and Associated Controlled Environments - Part 1: Classification of Air Cleanliness by Particle Concentration
Also Known As:
ISO 14644-1:2015 is a standard that defines the classification of air cleanliness in cleanrooms and clean zones. It specifically focuses on the concentration of airborne particles within these controlled environments. The classification is based on the cumulative distribution of particle sizes ranging from 0.1 µm to 5 µm.
The standard utilizes light scattering airborne particle counters (LSAPC) to determine the concentration of particles equal to or larger than the specified sizes at designated sampling locations. It should be noted that ISO 14644-1:2015 does not classify particle populations outside the range of 0.1 µm to 5 µm. An additional standard will be developed to address ultrafine particles smaller than 0.1 µm.
It is important to highlight that ISO 14644-1:2015 solely focuses on particle concentration and does not provide information regarding the physical, chemical, radiological, viable, or other characteristics of the airborne particles.
