Standard EN SampleFossil Fuel Power Plant Human-Machine Interface: Hard Panel Alarms
Also Known As:
The ISA RP77.60.02-2014 standard provides guidelines and recommendations for the design of alarms in fossil fuel power plants. The aim of this standard is to improve the effectiveness and usability of alarms for operators by reducing discrepancies, clutter, noise levels, and information overload.
The standard covers various aspects related to alarm design, including functional grouping, prioritization, order and consistency, colors, formats and displays, audio tone and pitch, acknowledge, reset, and test functions, and nuisance alarms. These issues are addressed individually as well as in relation to each other to ensure a coherent and useful application of alarms.
It is important to note that this standard specifically pertains to alarms displayed using lights or light boxes, and does not cover software-based alarms. Additionally, it is intended to complement the information provided by ISA-18.1-1979 (R2004), titled "Annunciator Sequences and Specifications," and is not intended for post-factum analysis of events.
