Work Disability Management System
Also Known As:
The CSA Z1011 standard is a management system standard that provides a framework for organizations to effectively manage work disability. It is aligned with the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) continual improvement model and the principles and best practices specified in CSA Group's Z1000 suite of standards.
The scope of the standard is to specify the requirements for a Work Disability Management (WDM) system that can be used by organizations to systematically manage their WDM activities. It applies to organizations of all sizes in the private, not-for-profit, and public sectors, with at least ten workers.
The standard provides a framework for organizations to prepare for and respond to work disability through a WDM system approach. This includes policies, processes, programs, procedures, and practices related to various aspects such as recruitment, hiring, and onboarding of workers with disabilities, the health and well-being needs of workers throughout the employment lifecycle, and competencies and training for key roles in the management of work disability.
The guiding principles of the standard are an evidence-informed, data-driven approach, a focus on inclusion and accessibility, a worker-centered and supportive approach, promotion of accommodation and timely and safe return to work, joint responsibility of organizational management and workers, and legal compliance.
