Standard EN SampleSafety of Machinery: Permanent Means of Access to Machinery - Choice of Fixed Means and General Requirements of Access
Also Known As:
BS EN ISO 14122-1:2016 is the first part of a series of international standards that establish general requirements for the safe access to machinery. It applies to both stationary and mobile machinery where a fixed means of access is necessary. However, it does not cover powered means of access like lifts or escalators.
This standard is intended for use by machine manufacturers, health and safety bodies, machine users, service providers, and consumers. It provides guidance for choosing the appropriate means of access when direct access to the machine is not possible from ground level or a floor.
BS EN ISO 14122-1 specifies minimum requirements for permanent means of access and non-powered adjustable or movable parts of fixed means of access. It also covers means of access that are a part of the building or civil construction where the machine is installed, as long as their primary function is to provide access to the machine.
The 2016 version of this standard is a technical revision of the previous version from 2001. It replaces the previous version and includes updated requirements and guidance for safe access to machinery.
