The AS 1670.1:2018 standard outlines the requirements for the design, installation, and commissioning of fire detection and alarm systems. The standard applies to systems that consist of components that meet the necessary standards for fire detection and alarm equipment.
It should be noted that if the detection and control equipment is part of a smoke control system in compliance with AS 1668.1, specific requirements can be found in Clause 7 of the standard. Additionally, if the detection and control equipment is part of a special hazard system compliant with AS 4214, additional requirements are addressed in AS 1670.5 Fire — Special Hazards. Lastly, maintenance requirements for fire detection and alarm equipment can be found in AS 1851.
