Standard EN SampleSunglasses and Fashion Spectacles
Also Known As:
The AS/NZS 1067:2003 standard sets forth the minimum requirements for sunglasses and sunglass lenses that are used for protection against solar radiation. These sunglasses are not intended for prescription lenses but are designed for general use, including social and domestic purposes, as well as road use and driving.
The standard applies to various types of eyewear, such as spectacles with tinted lenses of nominal zero power mounted in a spectacle frame, individual tinted lenses of nominal zero power for use in sunglasses, rimless sunshields and one-piece visors, clip-on and slip-on type sunglasses, as well as children's sunglasses.
However, the standard does not apply to safety glasses and safety goggles that are designed to provide protection against optical radiation. For safety glasses and goggles, AS/NZS 1337 and AS/NZS 1338 standards should be followed. Additionally, eyewear specifically intended for protection against radiation in solaria is not covered by this standard, as AS/NZS 2635 applies to these lenses. Ski goggles and glasses labeled as toys are also excluded from the scope of this standard.
